Try each DIMM in slot 3 and CPU-Z worked each time.Ħ. Try the same procedure in slot 2 (one at a time) and CPU-Z worked with both DIMMs.Ĥ. Swap out the DIMM from slot 1 and install the other one. I then tried a few experiments after reinstalling CPU-Z v1.70.ġ. The machine has three DIMM slots and two identical 512mb PC2700 DIMMs (even manufactured the same week) installed in slots 1 and 2. Okay. It's working now but why it's working remains a mystery. Other than the CPU-Z issue, everything seems to be fine.Īnyone run into this problem and have a solution? This machine is running an AMD Athlon processor with 1gb of memory. However, it would seem to be related to an AMD processor. These posts seem to meander all over the place without getting to the point. In searching the internet I found this is not a unique problem but I never seem to find a solution when I read the various posts. It seems to always freeze when it gets to the point of checking the processor. I downloaded the most recent version (August 2018) and that version does the same thing. When I ran it, it hung the system completely to where I need to hit the reset button. After this, all the hardware was defined and everything looks good. Then once XP was loaded, I used DoubleDriver to restore the drivers. Before I wiped the HD clean, I ran DoubleDriver and extracted all the non-Microsoft hardware drivers. I would like to share the screenshots but the system is not allowing me to.I received an older PC from a neighbor and like I always do with these, I reformatted the hard drive and loaded Win XP (SP3) from scratch. It turned out that it can be a bigger issue, maybe related to the motherboard because i am not able to see Mermory, Mainboard and SPD infos on the CPU-Z they are almost totally blank.
